The DAN Instructor Qualification Course IQC is the pathway to becoming a DAN Instructor.
The instructor candidates begin with the Emergency Management Provider (DEMP) programs. We will instruct candidates how to teach the four component courses. For professional divers we offer the First Aid for Professional Divers (DFA PRO) module. We also offer r you could choose to complete any individual program.
Step 1- Be a DAN member.
Step 2- Be a current status scuba diving leader with your training agency. (dive master, dive controller, dive instructor)
Step 3- Complete the Core Module online at DAN.org.
Step 4- Participate in an Instructor Qualification Course (IQC) with a DAN Instructor Trainer.
Step 5- Start teaching when you receive confirmation from DAN.
DAN Instructors who work with individuals who dive as part of their job or volunteer duties will want to consider adding the DFA PRO module as part of their IQC.
*Note about the scuba diving educator requirement: Any scuba diving instructor or assistant instructor with a recognized scuba training organization can attend the IQC. A Divemaster/DiveCon who is also a CPR and first aid instructor with a recognized training agency can also attend the IQC.
